This is your reminder that rest is decolonial practice.

That your tiredness is not a personal failure.

That needing to pause doesn’t make you less committed to the work—it makes you human.

And if you’re a therapist, healer, or space-holder who’s feeling the weight of holding so much?

Rest.

Not when it’s convenient. Not after the inbox is cleared. Not when you’ve “earned it.”

Now.

Because rest is how we:

  • Refuse capitalism’s demand that our worth be measured by output.
  • Reject perfectionism, grind culture, and the colonial lie that we are productivity machines.
  • Reclaim our bodies, our time, our capacity to think, imagine, and feel.
  • Remember what it means to resist with intention.
  • Remember what is means to heal with intention (and model this for our clients).

When we rest, we slow down enough to ask:

What am I really moving toward?

Who benefits when I keep pushing through?

What does sustainability look like for me—and my community?

So if you needed a sign, here it is:

Close your laptop. Put your hand on your heart. Breathe.

And let your rest be a refusal, a remembrance, a role model.

We’re not just building new ways of healing—we’re embodying them.

  1. How do I define rest—and where did that definition come from?
  2. What beliefs do I carry that make me feel guilty about resting?
  3. What would it mean to treat rest as part of my ethics and values—not a break from them?
  4. Where in my day, week, or practice can I intentionally carve space for restorative stillness?
  5. How does my rest support the collective? Who else benefits when I’m more grounded, spacious, and whole?
