Last time I landed in your inbox, I shared a bit about what’s been keeping me busy—feeling hopeful about my keynote speech at Michigan State University, preparing some courses, and slowing down to reassess how I want to be in community with you. Today, I want to pick up where we left off.

Lately, I’ve been sitting with the question: What does it truly mean to decolonize our practices, beyond just a framework? ...like, on a practical level... not just conceptually... How do we integrate it into how we show up—not just in our work, but in our relationships, our boundaries, our grief, and our healing? Decolonization isn’t just about what we know—it’s about what we do.

And in a world that often feels like it’s pulling us backwards, I want to take a moment to honor how far you’ve come. Despite the sociopolitical climate, the exhaustion, the caring for your clients, and the systemic barriers, you’re still here. Still questioning, still unlearning, still holding onto liberatory visions of care and community.

So here’s a reflection for you:

👉🏽 Think back to when you first started questioning the dominant models of therapy. (pause) What beliefs or practices have you let go of? What shifts—big or small—have you made to bring your work more in alignment with liberation?

I’d love to hear from you. Hit reply and let me know.

(or jot down your thoughts in your journal, or share your reflections on social media and tag me)

Here’s to collective healing and decolonial practices
